Totally Accepted
I think one of the amazing things about God is how He never gets tired of listening to us, helping us, or being with us every moment we need Him. He doesn't wait for us to have our act together. He doesn't want our performance or a facade of perfection. He simply wants us, just as we are.
Totally accepted is who we are in His eyes.
I know this might surprise you a bit, but just follow me here.
When sin entered the world through the fall of man, it caused humanity to be separated from God. Man began to run and hide from God because of the shame that came with the fall. Up to this day, we have somehow carried on this response of running and hiding when we fall or make a mistake because, at some point, we bought into the lie that we are unworthy and unloved.
The painful part is that we think staying away from God to deal with our struggles is the only way we can earn His acceptance. A lie that only serves to drive us farther into isolation.
I remember a time I believed this lie. I couldn't embrace the readily available love of God because I couldn't believe that God would love me after everything I had done. God was reaching out to me, but I kept running away from Him. I didn't trust His heart of love for me because it contradicted everything I knew about love.
To me, love was: Unsteady, conditional, and had to be fought for.
This old perception of love gave way after an encounter with God's love that remarkably changed and healed me. God showed me what love really means. His love was unconditional and unshakeable, eternal and everlasting, irrevocable and redeeming.
This new picture of love birthed a transformation within me and impacted how I saw myself. God's acceptance of me wasn't dependent on me or anything I did. It all pointed back to one personāJesus.
When the extraordinary compassion of God our Savior and his overpowering love suddenly appeared in person, as the brightness of a dawning day, He came to save us. Not because of any virtuous deed that we have done but only because of His extravagant mercy.
Titus 3:4ā5 (TPT)
Jesusāthe One who is Love personifiedācame to bridge the gap sin caused in our relationship with God. It was never about our performance or works but because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. We are loved and forever accepted because of Him.
We no longer have to run or hide when we fall short because He loves us and wants to help us. He knows we cannot overcome our struggles and challenges by ourselves, which is why He perfects His strength in our weaknesses. We were never created to do life without our Creator. God loves us so much and wants to walk this journey of life with us.
Even our flaws, weaknesses, and the things we wouldn't give a second look at become the very materials He uses to magnify His beauty and glory.
Stay blessed!š
